The Postcard 1040

August 28, 2018

The new postcard Form 1040 was previewed at the end of June, you can check out the proposed new form over on Forbes here.

You are going to need an envelope though, you can’t just send it off with all of your sensitive information on both sides of it.  Oh, and you may need up to six other forms to complete it.

Despite all that paperwork, it is a lot smaller than the full form, but the tax code hasn’t changed so dramatically that everyone can use this smaller form: it’s just meant to replace the 1040-EZ and the 1040A, which were already shorter forms for people to use.

If you’re using an accountant, or if you are an accountant, you probably won’t be using this new postcard form that often because sometimes things are more complicated than this new set of forms can handle.

If that’s the case for you, consider giving us a call to see if we can help you out with your complicated tax situation.
