If you were affected by the various hurricanes that devastated large parts of the eastern and southern coasts, first we’d like to extend our heartfelt condolences. If you’ve lost a relative or friend, we simply cannot fathom what that must feel like. We also know that losing homes and possessions can also be painful and destabilizing.
You may need to know that the IRS has postponed tax deadlines for those affected by the storms in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Texas, Puerto Rico, Georgia, and Florida.
The new deadline is January 31, 2018 for the following deadlines:
- Business extensions in the affected areas that ran out September 15
- Quarterly estimated payments due September 15, 2017 and January 16, 2018.
- Quarterly payroll and excise taxes that were due October 31, 2017
- Calendar year tax-exempt organization extensions for 2016 (they were due Nov 15).
