Pet Planning

October 30, 2018

If your children are young, untrustworthy, or just live in rental properties that don’t allow pets, you will want to protect those animal scions too.  You may need to appoint doggy or kitty guardians, beneficiaries for retirement accounts, and setting up pet-centered trusts.  Reportedly, Oprah has set aside as much as $30 million for her five dogs.  https://www.everplans.com/articles/the-10-biggest-inheritances-ever-left-to-pets

You may not be planning to set aside $30 million, but surely no amount of planning is too much!  Perhaps a complex network of trusts, or an in depth addendum to your will?  Perhaps palatial properties perfumed with purple plums to put up your puppy? A comfortable castle comprised of catnip conservatories for your cats to cavort?  Fancy festive fountains for your friendly fish to frolic in?

You could even do the same for other dependents, even your children, we suppose.

If you need some help starting, or just want some estate advice, we would be happy to help set you on the right path.
