Non-Profit Form 990 Due Dates

May 1, 2017

If you’ve ever worked for a nonprofit organization you probably know that they are required to file reports with the IRS annually.  These days, organizations with gross receipts of $50,000 or less only have to file an e-postcard called the 990-N instead of the full 990 or even 990-EZ.

The deadline for filing the 990-N, or the 990-EZ, or the 990, is by “the 15th day of the 5th month after the close of your tax year.”

That means that if your nonprofit organization’s tax year ends December 31 like most organizations, your filing deadline is May 15, 2017.

If you need more time, you can file a Form 8868 to request an automatic 3-month extension for the 990 or 990-EZ.
