Before you give out credit card information over the phone, stop and think about it. The federal government, the FBI and the IRS, won’t call you and ask for a credit card number over the phone. If someone does, even when it says FBI or IRS on the caller ID, they’re just trying to scam you.
Oh, also, think about sitting your parents down and talking to them about this as well. As a technologically sophisticated millennial, you are required by universal moral law to try to protect your parents and grandparents from these kinds of scams as well, as they’re much more likely to fall for them.
