Businesses often need a little bit of a . . . snip! . . . or cut . . . here or there. Jusssssst a little bit of expenses removed to make sure that everything is working just perfectly.
If you’re anything like us, you just ab-sol-ute-ly lovvvve getting rid of wasteful business fat, but job cuts can be a bit of a, . . . well shall we say a mixed bag? Even the employees that remain may have reduced productivity and eventually reduced profitability. That and its soooooo hard to replace a skilled worker later on that fits in well with your team.
When you are feeling the deep need to take something and . . . exciiiiiise it out of your budget, here are places that you should consider starting.
- Facility Costs: Whether it be in a haunted mansion or Vlad the Impaler’s old castle, your office costs generally rise every year or few years. Make sure that you look around at comparable offices when it comes time to renegotiate, and you may be able to . . . ssssslice a healthy amount from your office and facility fees.
- Supplies and Inventory: Always look at your inventory. How long is it in stock for, and can you cut back on your buying to reduce that time? You may be able to really dig in and gouge it out of budget.
- Outsourcing: Do you use a payroll company, or a cleaning company? It could be . . . quite a bit less than what you currently pay someone internally to do it, and calculate all of the payroll taxes too. You can sever a BIG chunk out of your expenses by sharing out the cost to another company. Just think of how much that could be!
- A Sale-Leaseback Arrangement: Here’s a thing you may not have heard of before, if you aren’t into . . . clipping things as much as us. A Sale-Leaseback (sometimes just a “leaseback”) is when you sell land, a building, or equipment with the understanding that you’ll then turn around and lease that asset from the company that buys it. It frees up the capital, and can be a lovely way to generate more revenue . . . which isn’t nearly as good as a snip, in my opinion.
I hope that you all are having a lovely day and are GrEATly enjoying all of the little cuts that you are getting to make with your sharp and slightly bloody financial scalpel. It’s soooooo much fun!
Happy Halloween as well . . . hahahaHaHaHaHaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA . . .
