Avoid Phishing By Knowing This

May 29, 2018

Phishing topped the IRS created list of potential tax scams this year, meaning that both taxpayers and preparers like us need to be vigilant against fake emails and websites collecting taxpayer information.

The best way to avoid these scammers is to remember that the IRS doesn’t use phones or email when they initially contact taxpayers.  They use real life printed out letters which you can then bring to us so that we can help you figure things out.

If you get an email that you think is a phishing scheme, you can forward it to phishing@irs.gov and they’ll look into it.
